The HUMAN IDEAL

MAGDALENA golden section light painting I (2019)

Leonardo da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man” serves as the point of departure for a series of performances that took place across the streets and squares of Berlin-Neukölln as part of 48 Stunden Neukölln 2019. Against this art-historical backdrop, the figure of Maria Magdalena emerges, breaking through the hermetically sealed boundaries of the Golden Section – that distinctly masculine-coded concept of human perfection and power. In this performative reinterpretation, the symbol itself becomes a space of negotiation between historical legacy and contemporary positioning.
