“In order to experience the divine, I look for its unique expression in nature and in places where heaven and earth form a perfect equilibrium” – Maria Kossak

“Between Heaven and Earth, the latest artwork by Maria Kossak, is a visualisation of elements connecting with one another to achieve balance. The work features a natural rock arch formed from the sea and wind cutting through the stone over millennia. By connecting the sea below with the sky above the arch acts as a bridge between the elements.”

“Amidst societal tensions and cultural divisions, Kossak intends to create space for reflection, where the viewer can reconnect to a restorative state of mind. Referencing the traditionally ecclesiastical format of the triptych, the work invites a broader outlook and provides a moment of calm.
The artist has transposed a dove icon, a symbol of the divine, from a mediaeval painting in the Basilica de Santa Maria in Palma onto the coastal landscape of the island. Through this transition, the artist shifts the concept of the sacred from a religious context to an earthly one.”  Dr. Joanna Kiliszek
