Heaven on Earth is the latest video artwork by visual artist Maria Kossak. The artist has created a piece that visualises elements connecting with one another where balance is achieved. The artist has magically transposed a painted dove, a symbol of the divine, from a mediaeval icon in the Basilica de Santa Maria in Palma, into the coastal landscape of the island.
The video captures a natural rock arch which has been formed by the sea and wind cutting through the stone over millennia. The video is a beautiful depiction of the geological processes at work and the divine potential unfolding between heaven and earth. By connecting the sea below with the sky above, the arch is a bridge between the elements and it symbolises a crossing between the divine realm and the earthly one.
