This triptych was made using traditional, painterly techniques in conjunction with digital processes. On aluminium Dibond a textural layer is created using watercolour paint. This is then overlaid with a digital stencil created from a pencil drawing of the lotus flower.

The lotus flower is a symbol of purity, resilience and beauty. Known as the “lotus effect”, the flower has a unique ability to repel dirt and blossom anew each morning, pristine and unblemished. The works in this series are intended to help you harness the ability to self-renew. By highlighting the flower’s natural symmetry and order, the works are intended to reduce anxiety and restore calm. The series also reflects upon, and beautifully captures, the lotus’ connection to the elements: “Rooted in the earth, the lotus grows through water towards the light, opening its petals to the sky each day.
